The 5 days tournament from 8th – 13th February 2022 involved a mixture of skilled and experienced players from all over India. All the Clubs participating in the event underwent strict selection procedure and trials to ensure the quality of the competition and to select the best from the numerous clubs entries received for the novel tournament. Hyderabad Chargers, Amravati Baseball Club, Assam Rhinos Baseball Club, Punjab Lions, Faridabad Baseball Club, 9 Famous Clubs participated in the first of its kind Club Baseball league was organized by the Confederation of Professional Baseball Softball Clubs in India(CPBSC), in association with Dream Olympic Sports.

The Tournament was well lauded by the players, team management and officials alike, who were of the opinion that this is the perfect platform that the sports required to reach its optimum level and even held the tournament and the facilities to be one of the best they had ever experienced in their careers. The level of competition in the tournament can be justified by the fact that the Top 2 teams in the points-table had equal points but were differentiated based on the net run-rate, which went to decimals. The Players were also given an opportunity to perform their skills in Annual Derby to showcase their skills with the Assam Rhinos clinching victory by their exemplary show skill and knowledge on the field.

All the players and winners were congratulated by the Chief Guest Mr. V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, Managing Director of Telangana State Road Transportation. Mr. Sajjanar expressed his extreme support towards sports and especially development of a sports like Baseball , which he himself a affectionate follower of. This instilled a feeling of pride among the players as the Chief Guest of such caliber was an ardent supporter of the sport that they were playing. The first edition of Club Nationals 2021, was won by Punjab Lions, a team that showed its dominance since Day 1, while the runners up position was taken by 9 Famous Club Chandigarh, who despite having suffered the most injuries, never gave up and showed extreme determination and sportsman spirit on the field. The Third position was held by Assam Rhinos Baseball Club, who despite being one of the youngest team stood on an equal footing with all the other teams when it came to skills and were seen to clinch victories by making major comebacks in most of their matches. Mr. Sagar Dagar, from Faridabad Baseball Club was adjudged as The Best Batter of the Tournament while Pawan Mane of Assam Rhinos Baseball Club was awarded The Best Pitcher for his disciplined and accurate pitching throughout the tournament. The award for the Best Catcher of the Tournament was given to Chaitanya Pawar of Punjab Lions while another member of the Faridabad Baseball Club, Siddharth Vaishnav was awarded the prestigious “Most Valuable Player” award for Club Nationals 2021, for his outstanding performance in all areas.

The first of its kind tournament turned out to be a perfect display of the hidden and untapped Baseball talent that India possess and has raised the hope that India has the appetite for yet another action packed sports of Bat and Ball. CPBSC and Dream Olympic Sports have taken up the onus to bring a revolution in the Indian Sports Industry when it comes to the Sports of Baseball and hopes to build a self-sustaining and holistic environment for this sport to grow and reach the optimum level that it deserves.
